Creator of the month in September

By Ekaterina Pashina on September 04, 2018 00:00 Featured Authors 0

Hello eyeka,

This month we would like to introduce you our creator of September – Stefan, known as Stefhemady on eyeka. Stef is an artist from Philipines who joined us in 2018 and already won three times! So let’s let’s learn more about him!

Tell us a bit more about yourself.

Hello eyeka and fellow creators, my name is Stefan Hemady and I‘m a multimedia artist from the Philippines. I’m a simple person who loves to have fun. I like watching movies, anime, surfing the web (reddit!) and playing video games (Playstation fanboy!).

I absolutely love being a creator. Whether it be creating videos, posters or websites, designing is a passion of mine. Heck, even when I’m just chatting with my friends or colleagues and one of them sends a photo, I go out of my way to edit that photo into something funny just so I can make everyone laugh. I love that aspect about what I do, that I can make people laugh and smile with what I create. But that wasn’t always the plan.

Back when I graduated high school and was about to go to college, I didn’t have the slightest idea about what I wanted to do with my life. I decided to study accounting but quickly figured out that it wasn’t for me. After just a semester, I shifted course and studies nursing, only to realize that that too wasn’t the right path for me to take. After a conversation with my mom, I decided that it would be best if I took time off from college to find out what I really wanted to do. And this was when I discovered and fell in love with the world of arts and design. I never looked back and I can proudly say that it was the best decision of my life.

How did you find out about eyeka?

I found out about eyeka through friends who are also creators on the platform. I come back to eyeka every now and again when I feel like creating something very different from what I do in my work.

How do you choose contests on eyeka in which you participate?

Whenever there’s a new contest, I read its brief very carefully and then I try to quickly think of what I can do off the top of my head. If I can think of a few ideas quickly and I feel that I can develop these ideas further to resonate with the brief, then I’ll join. If I feel like the contest is something that I can’t contribute anything too, then I’ll just wait for other contests that fit more with me and my style.

What is your usual creative process? How do you work on eyeka challenges?

Once I’ve decided to join a contest, I’ll use my free time to really dig deep and think of ideas that I think I can execute well. The notes app on my smartphone (that syncs to my laptop!) is my best companion during this process. I have one notes file titled “eyeka master notes file” where I just list down ideas for contests I’m currently working on. It’s so convenient to have your notes easily accessible whenever you come up with an idea. I list down every single thing I can think of and when it’s time to create, that’s where I cull it down to what I think connects more with the brief. Lastly, I write the idea resume to describe the artwork I’ve create or the idea I want to present.

Where do you find inspiration?

Making artworks does get exhausting, and giving up is like a release from stress. That is why it’s important to have inspiration to push you further. I work hard so I can give back to my family, especially to my mom and dad who’ve always had my back and was always supportive of me and my career choice.

What would you like to achieve (or have already achieved) with the prizes you will win/have won?

I’m planning to start a business in the future and I’m hoping that the prizes from past (and future too hopefully!) winnings will help me out with this. I’d also like to travel more and see what the big deal is with this place people call “outside”.

If you had to describe eYeka in 3 words, what would they be?

Freedom to create

Finally, what would you advise your fellow eyeka creators who just joined the platform? What would you advise creators who do not have any specific design skills?

To my fellow creators who’ve just joined, all I can say is don’t be afraid to participate! If you think you have an idea worth sharing then share it. Don’t hold yourself back and have fun with it. A favorite saying of mine is “the courageous can accomplish more things in a single moment than the cowardly can do in a lifetime”. So just keep joining and I hope you can accomplish your goals too.

To those who lack design skills, all I can say is don’t let that ste8op you!

The internet is your friend and you can find all the tutorials you need if you want to learn. And even if you don’t, as long as you express your ideas clearly, you’ll have the chance to succeed. I’ve seen great designs get beat by better ideas with simpler designs. Anything is possible as long as you believe in yourself and your ideas!

Thank you Stefan for sharing your story! We wish you all the best and good luck in the next eyeka contests!

Invent a new kids’ dairy brand that appeals to both parents and kids!

By Ekaterina Pashina on August 23, 2018 11:03 Call for entries 0

Invent a new kids’ dairy brand that appeals to both parents and kids.

In recent years, parenting and relationships between parents and kids have been evolving a lot. Parents are less psychologically controlling and showing more warmth and responsiveness.

However, kids’ dairy products have not evolved as much over time, both in terms of food forms and recipes and design: Kids’ dairy brands usually attract kids with colorful packaging & a childish cartoon design, while only providing basic health reassurance to parents.

We would like your help to create a new dairy brand for them, with a product range, packaging and an experience that would appeal to both parents and kids!

Invent a new kids’ dairy brand that appeals to both parents and kids by transforming the consumption experience into a unique fun moment.

FORMAT: Presentation with illustrations and text, max. 4 pages.

Meet our creator of the month of August - Evgeniy!

By Pauline Gaudillat on August 01, 2018 08:30 Featured Authors 0

Hello eÿeka!

"Negativity is the enemy of creativity", once said David Lynch.

This month, we are introducing one of our TOP 20' creator: evgeniylg123.

Tell us a bit more about yourself (what have you done/worked/studied, where do you live, what do you like most about your country/city, what characterizes you the most and anything you feel comfortable sharing) …

Hello everyone! My name is Evgeny Lukashenok.

Since childhood I loved to draw. When I was 10 years old, I collected pencils and brushes and together with a friend went to take exams in children's art school. The teacher was impressed ... The parents were faced with the fact that I entered that school…

A lot of time has passed.  I was graduated from the St Petersburg art and industrial Academy named after A. L. Stieglitz with a degree in visual communication design. For more than 25 years I have been working as a designer and art director in the best advertising agencies of Moscow and St. Petersburg. I got awards of Russian and international advertising competitions. Among the most significant is gold on The Globes.

Now I am 50 and I still love my profession. I still love to learn something new.  A few years ago, I became interested in Latin dance, where I met my future wife. Before that, there were lessons in public speaking. Maybe tomorrow it will be boxing training, maybe something else…

Last couple of years I have been working as a freelancer. For some period of time I and my wife find it more convenient, due to the birth of a son.

I like traveling.

I like cooking. For me it is a kind of creativity doing which I rest.

How did you find out about eYeka?

Working in the office imposes some restrictions. Almost always the result is a compromise between team members. Sometime someone plays safe. At some point I wanted more freedom, even at the cost of mistakes. I started looking online and found eYeka.

Do you have a creative process? If so, can you share a bit of your secret with our community? Where do you look for inspiration?

I often change my creative process. Today I can fully focus on one project. Tomorrow I can take two at once and switch from one to another. Today I can write my thoughts, tomorrow draw, the day after tomorrow it can be something else.

But there are moments that are unchangeable. I spend a lot of time to get into the subject.  Then I try to sketch out as many solutions as possible. Next I postpone the contest for some time. Usually the most interesting ideas come after that.

And last but perhaps the most important moment. I read the brief from time to time. Often the solution is already in it.

When submitting an entry, how do you keep positive if it is rejected or not selected as a winning entry?

It's always good when someone else believes in you. For me, such a person is my wife. It so happened that I discovered eYeka almost immediately after our wedding. At first, I was not sure that my wife would appreciate this hobby. Participation in competitions is a time that comes off including the family. Everything happened exactly the opposite. When, despite losing, your loved ones believe in you it's worth a lot.

What would you like to achieve (or have already achieved) with the prizes you will win/have won?

The prizes allowed me to travel more around the world, to spend more time with our baby (now he is a little more than 2 years old)

If you had to describe eYeka in 3 words, what would they be?

Creativity, freedom, drive

Finally, is there anything you would like to share with our creators (secret, tip…)?

I love my job and sometimes I get too involved. But even such an interesting job is only part of life. In the end the result in the creativity would be better if to find time for anything else. I try to think of it when I get too involved.
